This one is a one-chord two-finger D formation with the high E open & the low E tuned down to D. The pinkie does most of the legwork. 
For the final version on Since, I picked a yellow Carmine Street Tele I owned briefly. I had a general no-Strats rule at the time, but Chris Cochrane used one because he’d had it since he was a kid, so how could I say no. The percussion JD Foster did on this probably came from Pearl River Mart in SoHo — we were in there pretty regularly & usually left with some kind of noisemaker.
